Ali Sarikhani – Company founder

Ali Sarikhani (FCA) is founder of Chiltern plc. In 1971 he qualified as a chartered accountant with a leading accounting firm and made partner in a big four firm in 1976. In 1980 he established his own accountancy practice and in 1982 he founded a corporate services firm, which later became a subsidiary of UBS. He expanded the business via the acquisition of Williams Jeffery Barber (which has now evolved into Chiltern’s Tax Support for Professionals division) in 1987 and Chiltern Limited (a corporate tax consultancy) in 1997.

In 1997, Ali formed the Chiltern Group after leading a management buy-out from UBS. Since then he has been instrumental in driving Chiltern’s growth to it becoming the UK’s leading independent tax-led professional services group.

Ali Sarikhani invests in a number of businesses via his family trust including Alpha Telecom, for which Chiltern PLC funded the buy-out and then proceeded to grow the business from £40m of revenues to £140m+. In early 2003 a successful approach was received for the Alpha business for ten times the investment made two years earlier.
